Who can apply for social housing in Derby
Social housing is in extremely high demand nationally. Far more people want a home than there are homes available. Many people will wait a long time before being offered a council property.
The Council’s policy that explains how decisions are made on who needs housing and how properties are allocated is the Derby City Council - Allocations Policy 2020 to 2025.

The Derby Homefinder website
You can look for available homes on Derby Homefinder. This is the central housing register for social housing in Derby and includes homes available to rent from Derby City Council, Derby Homes and a number of other registered providers (housing associations) in the city. Before you can use Derby Homefinder, we will assess your needs from your application. If you qualify, you will be placed in one of the three 'priority bands'. You need an email address to apply, to access your existing housing application and to bid for properties.
