Extra care housing
What is extra care?
Extra care housing is a housing and/or care option for tenants and leaseholders. Each flat is self-contained with your own front door, living space, bathroom, bedroom(s) and a range of communal facilities and services.
There is onsite care available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to deliver planned care and support. There is also a 24/7 emergency response service onsite available to all residents including those without planned care or support needs.

How do I qualify for extra care?
To be eligible, you need to meet the Adult Social Care referral criteria for extra care housing. All places are allocated through Adult Social Care referrals.
Parkland View
Parkland View is an Extra Care apartment complex managed by us on behalf of the Council. It has 82 self-contained two-bedroom apartments - the majority are rented and some are shared ownership. The building is next to the River Derwent, close to Darley Park and has been designed to be dementia friendly.
Parkland view has many facilities and services onsite including:
- a craft room
- an IT and reading room
- a lounge
- a restaurant
- a games room
- a hairdresser
- a laundry room
- a therapy room
- a patio garden
- 24/7 onsite care provided by the commissioned care team’
- social activities
All places are allocated through Adult Social Care referrals.
