Lift Safety
Why is lift safety important?
Ensuring lifts are regularly inspected and well maintained is important for keeping you safe in your home. This is particularly important for those who rely on lifts or lifting equipment to allow them to live independently at home.
If you need to report a problem or have a concern about a lift in your home or building please contact us.
Responsibilities
Our responsibilities
We have a legal duty to make sure the lifts in our properties are safe to use. We carry out regular inspections on all passenger lifts and lifting equipment to make sure they operate safely.
We’re responsible for:
- Carrying out Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) inspections on all our passenger lifts, ceiling track hoists, through-floor lifts and step lifts every six months to ensure they are safe to operate.
- Making sure stairlifts are serviced annually.
- Ensuring any repairs identified are responded to within the correct timeframe.
Lift inspections
All our passenger lifts, ceiling track hoists , through floor lifts and step lifts in our properties have a LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulation) certificate and are inspected every six months. The certificate ensures your lift equipment is safe to use.
Preparing for an inspection
If you have a ceiling track hoist, step lift or though-floor lift in your property we will contact you when the lift is due to be inspected and let you know what to expect. The inspection will usually take a few hours and during this time the lift will be out of operation, and we might need to turn the electricity in the property off for a short time. If any faults or repairs are identified, our operatives will respond to these as soon as possible.
For lifts in communal areas, we will notify everyone in the building to let them know when the lift is being inspected and what to expect. The inspection will usually take a few hours and during this time the lift will be out of operation. If any faults or repairs are identified, our operatives will respond to these as soon as possible.
Stairlifts do not require a LOLER certificate but are still serviced annually. If you have a stairlift we will contact you to let you know when it is due for servicing and what to expect. The inspection will usually take a few hours and during this time the stairlift will be out of operation. If any faults or repairs are identified, our operatives will respond to these as soon as possible.
