Social value
Corporate Social Responsibility is the approach Derby Homes takes to doing business. We ethically manage our social, economic and environmental impact and have an ethos of good corporate citizenship.
The work of Derby Homes goes beyond delivering housing and support by tackling wider social, economic and environmental challenges and working to make our communities more sustainable. We provide opportunities for our customers to make better choices, for staff to have worthwhile and fulfilling roles, for suppliers and contractors to have stable, on-going work and for partners to deliver more by working together.
The way that we work is possible because we are an organisation that does not look to operate for profit but looks to work efficiently to create surpluses that are reinvested in the business to provide better communities and better services for our customers.
Derby Homes is fundamentally a social business – it is in the privileged position of being able to make a positive contribution to society by investing in customers, staff, partners and suppliers and it recognises its responsibility to demonstrate the impact of this investment.
Charity of the year
Each year, staff select a ‘Charity of the Year’ and various activities take place promoting corporate fundraising during the year to support these causes. Our charity for this year is: Disability Direct
Disability Direct provides a fully accessible Information and Advice Service for disabled people across the City of Derby. Their Welfare Rights Service supports residents to navigate disability benefit, from assisting with the completion of forms, to representation at appeal tribunals. Other projects include an accessible allotment and various other activities. Over the past 25 years they have supported thousands of people through their work.
