We have received a commendation from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards.

The RoSPA Awards, which receive entries from organisations around the world, recognise achievement in health and safety.

We were commended for our health and safety performance between 1 January and 31 December 2025 and this win marks 20 years of consecutive success at the RoSPA Awards.

The commended status is awarded to companies that have achieved a standard that is beyond the Gold award. This specific commendation is tailored to the public service and local government sector, aiming to highlight organisations within this field that have gone the extra mile in protecting their workforce and public safety.

Maria Murphy, Managing Director said:

Safety is not a task – it's a habit. The health and safety programme we have in place is committed to the ethos of being home safe and well.

It’s not easy when we as an organisation have a responsibility for the health and safety of over 600 employees and 40,000 tenants to continue to deliver to our high standards.

I’m extremely proud of our team for being recognised and for reaching this fantastic milestone of 20 wins in 20 years. My congratulations to all involved.

Standout achievements

This year's submission for the RoSPA Awards included over 80 pieces of individual evidence, which demonstrated:

  • Less accidents - zero fatal injuries, zero enforcement action and low and reduced accident and ill-health rates.
  • Digitalised workflow - risk assessments and accident reporting have moved to digital systems improving accessibility and accountability.
  • Staff training - all staff completed health and safety training and fire safety e-learning. We also updated guidance on staying safe and vigilant at work, including team specific advice such as conflict management and site emergency procedures.
  • Stress indicator tool - 75% of all colleagues responded with honest feedback. With this data we were able to look at trends and take real action on the key areas affecting them.
  • Staff protection - working with Socotec UK Limited, specialist occupational hygiene assessors, we monitored vibration exposure levels which improved health surveillance, compliance and worker protection.
  • Staff wellbeing - all employees now have access to Care Derbyshire's wellbeing timetable. This includes a range of free wellbeing workshops, webinars, courses, clubs, activity sessions and colleague support cafés.
