Benefits of working for Derby Homes
We offer excellent terms and conditions of employment including a range of family friendly practices in place and work life balance opportunities. Employee welfare and health is very important and our employees have access to free counselling and support and medical advice. All of our policies are available on our intranet and are reviewed regularly.
All our employees can join the Local Government Pension Scheme. For more information, go to the Local Government Pension Scheme website using the useful links on this page.
Employee consultation is high on our agenda – we want everyone to feel that their views count. To help us achieve this, we have a number of initiatives including an employee suggestion scheme called Bright Ideas. We also have a communication group, led by employees for employees, that meets regularly through the year to discuss anything that might affect them in the workplace. The senior management team read the minutes of these meetings on a quarterly basis.
We give UNISON, UCATT and UNITE full trade union recognition rights. This means, we consult them about any proposed changes to employees' terms and conditions. We also welcome the support and guidance they offer individual employees.
Work life balance
It’s important to have a healthy balance between work and home life. To help, we have a flexible working scheme and a number of other family-friendly initiatives.
We take part in the Computershare voucher scheme (formerly Busy Bees). This is a family-friendly initiative, which helps with childcare costs. For more information go to the Computershare voucher scheme website using the useful links on this page.
We have an employee assistance scheme called 'Right Core Care'. This is a freephone helpline, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which offers counselling support, as well as legal, financial and tax-related advice.
