Social Media

Social media is a general term used to describe lots of different websites that people use to communicate with each other. The most commonly known are Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Social Media also allows us to easily share information from other people or organisations, such as Derby City Council, Community Action, OSCAR, DACP and other local and national organisations. We will share updates from these if we think they could be of interest to you.

Derby Homes communicates on Twitter and Facebook. You can see updates of these newsfeed on our news page.

Why we are on Facebook and Twitter

The advantages are that we can reach people quickly, anytime, wherever they are, at a time that suits them. It also costs nothing and takes us no time at all.

It means we can keep you informed using short updates and you only need to read them if you’re interested. Some things will be relevant for everyone, like changes to our services. Other things may only be interesting if they affect you directly, like  Welfare Reform or local issues affecting a certain area of the city.

We aim  to make other area of involvement more accessible. For example, we now provide live Twitter coverage of our Operational Board meetings, just in case you want to find out about the key decisions that affect you, as they happen. You can even tweet back to the board and ask them a question!

We are using these sites because we think they give you another way to interact with us. We appreciate it may not be for everybody, which is why we have lots of ways for you to get involved as well.

We will never use Facebook, Twitter or QR codes to ask for payment. Do not send personal details via these methods.
