It’s important to make sure young people have a say in the way Derby Homes is governed. We work with the council to run our own youth panel: Ignite & Connect.
Group members are typically aged 13-19 live in the homes and neighbourhoods we manage. They get involved with making decisions on Derby Homes services that affect children and young people and also work on various projects that aim to create opportunities for young people and strengthen communities.
They meet once a month to work on projects, discuss things that are important to them and eat pizza.
We encourage younger people living on our estates to get involved with us, and work in partnership with organisations to engage with schools and youth groups.
Some reasons why our current members joined:
- You can voice you opinions
- You get to make decisions
- You can learn new skills
- It’s a non-judgemental, safe environment
- You are listened to
- We create and work on amazing projects
If you know of a young person that you feel could benefit from being part of Ignite and Connect contact [email protected] or follow the group's Instagram page.
