Security equipment to help victims of anti social behaviour
The Neighbourhood Safety Team now have a supply of security equipment available for tenants and leaseholders who have been subjected to anti social behaviour. The equipment will be loaned to victims who the team feel would benefit from using it.
“This is an opportunity for us to provide further support for victims of anti social behaviour,” commented Carrie Bria, Neighbourhood Safety Manager. “We want to provide extra reassurance to make sure people feel safe in their homes.”
The equipment includes:
Door braces – an internal security device that can be adjusted to fit most sliding and hinged doors.
Door chain mirrors – used with a door chain to help people see who is outside.
Safe cans and candles – for hiding small valuables and cash to protect from bogus callers.
Defender alarms – in a variety of shapes, including hearts and a Dalmatian dog. They’re aimed at encouraging young people to carry a personal safety alarm and can be used as an anti bullying device.
Panic alarms – a wall mounted alarm providing a known fixed point where a powerful siren can be activated.
Door wedge alarms – a deterrent to 'sneak‘ in burglaries. When armed and positioned behind a door it will sound if someone tries to open the door.
Door handle alarms – a loud (130 decibels) alarm that detects potential intruders before they can open the door.
Digital door viewers – records movement and sound outside your door.
