Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service
The aim of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) is to make Derbyshire a safer place to live, work and visit. As well as responding to emergencies, the fire service also does a lot of fire prevention work.
Derby Homes and DFRS have developed a Home Fire Safety Checks (HFSC )strategy to promote fire safety in the home. DFRS conduct periodic audits to ensure that HFSC’s are completed to a high standard which is current and relevant to tenants
We work together to identify trends in council house fires, taking action to reduce such risks. Recently, our work has focused on:
- the importance of smoke alarms
- using chip pans safely
- reducing arson.
Statistics provided by the DFRS indicates that there has been a reduction in fires in Derby Homes’ properties since the HFRC’s began in 2008. See our press release
