Derby City Council
Derby Homes is 100% owned by Derby City Council. We work on their behalf to:
- Implement the Council’s housing strategy
- Operate the allocations policy, giving priority to homeless applicants
- Manage the homeless hostel and provide other temporary accommodation for homeless people
- Form partnerships with Derby Benefits and Derby Advice to make sure council tenants get housing and other benefits
- Build links with schools on council estates
- Provide a supported living service to older and disabled people.
Our work includes liason with the City and Neighbourhood Partnerships (formerly the Community Safety Partnership) and the Neighbourhood teams to identify issues on the estates and help resolve them.
Derby Homes supports the Derby City Council’s Children and Young Person Strategy. One of goals of this strategy is to reduce teenage pregnancies. Advice on contraception can be obtained from a range of websites. For example:- NHS or Family Planning Association
