Windows and External Doors
PVCu Double Glazed Window Replacement Programme
Derby Homes are working with Yorkshire Windows to replace timber single glazed windows with PVCu double glazed windows. These windows are easier to maintain, hard-wearing and reduce outside noise. They are also more energy efficient, which means that you may be able to turn your heating down a notch or two and save on your heating bills.
We aim to complete the programme of window replacement in all our properties by 2012. Derby Homes believes that these changes will be beneficial to the comfort and security of all tenants. We are therefore investing a large amount of money from our maintenance budget in to this scheme.
Why in the same area have some houses got new windows, but not others?
The window replacement programme runs alongside the cyclical repairs programme, which carries out regular improvement work. Repairs to the outside of your house will be done before external painting. This means that we are able to significantly reduce the amount of money spent on external painting, which in turn means we can invest more funds into the window programme.
If you live on a particular street or road that has a high number of properties on it, then window replacements may be scheduled for a future year.
This decision will have taken into account several factors, but will mainly be based on the previous work carried out in that area. Please rest assured that we will replace your windows.
External Doors
Derby Homes are working with Norfolk Frames over a 5 year programme to upgrade all external timber doors to composite doors. This new style of door will be lower maintainance and help keep repairs costs down. It also can offer a greater fire protection in areas which open onto a communal space. Tenants will be contacted approximately 10 weeks before the planned work to have their door surveyed and will be given an option on styles to choose from.
This work aims to be completed by 2017.
