Hate Crime

A hate incident is defined as:

‘Any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any person, as being motivated by prejudice or hate.’

A hate crime or incident is any behaviour that someone thinks was caused by hatred of race, sexual orientation or gender identity, disability, religion or faith.  It can be name calling, graffiti or writing, attacks or violence, or damage such as to your house or car, arson or fire.

Derby Homes takes a zero tolerance approach to hate crime and have procedures in place for dealing quickly and effectively with these complaints.  We have publicised our service standards which state that we will class all hate crime as a category 1 and respond within 24 hours.  Click here to report an incident.

We have a dedicated Victim and Witness Support Officer who will work with all complainants of hate crime.
