Derby Tenants Resource Centre - Official Opening
29th July 2005
Although the Derby Tenants Resource Centre has been at St Peters House for nearly two years, we felt it was time for an offical opening ceremony. we timed this to conincide with the 10th Anniversary of our being a constituted group.
Lots of tenants, both past and present were invited and we laid on some refreshments in the form of cheese and wine samples.
A good time was had by all!
Xmas Festivities 2004
December 2004
The DACP hosted two parties for Christmas 2004. One was for the adults at the Derby Engineers Club and the second was for children, held at the Derby Tenants Resource Centre.
Our children's Party in December 2004 was very sucessful. There were about 18 children present from panel members' families. There was a buffet and festive music, along with games organised by Richard Platt and Faye Brown from Derby Homes. Santa came along and gave all the children a gift. Look carefully at the photo, who do you think played Santa this year?
Morley Mackworth Fun Day

The Morley and Mackworth Community Panel held its 2nd Annual Community Fun Day on a blazing hot Saturday in August, and what a day they had!
There were all kinds of stalls available, selling bric-a-brac, cakes, books as well as a raffle and tombola.
There was a bouncy castle for the children, along with a hotdog and ice-cream van.
There was also an information stand giving information out about the Community Panels and the Tenant Participation movement in Derby. Tenant Participation in Derby is done in partnership with
Derby Homes.
The Community Watch Patrol van was in attendance, as well as representatives from the Mediation Team and Sure Start.
The event was opened by the newly elected Mayor, Councillor Ruth Skelton.
It was nice that the weather was so good!!
Visit from Slough
3rd August 2004
The Management Team hosted a visit from a delegation of officers from Slough Council.
A party of nine travelled up and got here for about 10.30 am.
They wanted to come and talk to the volunteers here about the change from 'Local Authority' to 'Arms Length Management Company', which we have helped to implement here over the last 2 years, quite sucessfully i might add!
Dennis and Nita answered lots of questions and some of our Derby Homes Officers were in attendance to give presentations on the ALMO from their point of view.
A good day was had by all!
Trip to Wicksteed Park

A group of tenants and Derby Homes staff travelled to Wicksteed Park for the annual Summer Showcase put on by the East Midlands Tenant Participation Forum.
It proved to be an excellent opportunity for networking with tenants from other councils as there were representatives from all over the East Midlands present. Everyone had story's to tell and it was very interesting to hear from different parts of the country.
Once again the organisers had given us a day to remember with lots of stalls, workshops and information stands to take in.
It was a weary bunch of travellers that finally got back on the coach to come back home again, weary but very happy with our day out!
DACP Community Fun Day 2004
3rd July 2004
On the 3rd July this year, we organised an open-air event in the Market Place in Derby to help promote our organisation, and many like-minded organisations.
We had many displays of dance and music from all sections of the community and in general we had a great day. Unfortunately we were not blessed with the greatest of weather, but that didn't dull our enthusiasm!
