What is a Community Panel?
It is a group of local people made up of Tenant’s, residents, leaseholders, housing staff, and ward councillors who aim to improve the housing service and the area you live in.
Why should I join?
As a Community panel member you have the right to:
Meet and share your views with other tenant’s and residents, housing staff and ward councillors.
Receive information about improvements and services
Be involved in the City Housing Improvement Plan, which sets out the improvements for your area.
Comment on proposals that affect you
Make a difference to the way the housing service is provided
Have access to a vote on proposals for your area
Put your ideas onto the Community panel agenda
Receive support, training and advice
What do I have to do?
As a Community panel member you will be invited to:
Attend at least ten 2 hour panel meetings per year
Share your views about local issues
Comment on reports and information provided by Derby Homes and other organisations
Help identify the improvements local people want in your area
Work with other panel members to make a difference
Work to the agreed constitution and code of conduct
Elect officers to organise and represent the panel
Respect confidentiality and not discuss individual cases

What help do I get?
As a Community panel member, in return you will receive:
Agendas and minutes of panel meetings
Expenses – including travel and caring costs, where necessary
An identity badge
Training opportunities to help build your confidence, knowledge and skills
The opportunity to put forward items for the Community panel agenda
A Community Panel membership Pack
The ability to vote and make a difference at Panel meetings!
How do I become a Member?
All local people can attend a Community panel meeting
There are various levels of membership
To join, attend a panel meeting and find out more about how you can become involved
Its never too late to get involved, you can join at any time. Pop along to the next meeting in your area
