The Tenancy Support Service was established in March 2003 and is funded primarily through a Supporting People Grant. The aims of the service are to enable people to maintain their tenancies and help them to become independent and participate in sustainable communities.
Following a service review it has been fundamentally remodelled to ensure that it is more targeted at strategic needs and makes the most effective use of the resources available.
As a result the service will now include a range of
specialisms, although many of these will be delivered by a group of staff that possess the skills to deliver support to the range of clients set out below. However some of these
specialisms, including those provided to support victims/survivors of domestic violence and people living with HIV or Aids will continue to be offered by specialist support workers.
Two additional workers, one providing alcohol related housing support and the other offering generic support will be separately funded by the Derwent New Deal for Communities (NDC).
