Estate Management

The work of Derby Homes is not just allocating, managing and maintaining homes.  We believe that the quality of the area where you live is just as important as the home you live in.

Derby Homes is committed to making Derby’s estates places where people are proud and happy to live.

To improve our estates we will:

• organise and invite you to an estate walkabout in your area each year
• consult with tenants and leaseholders on environmental improvements
• prioritise environmental improvements through the Community Panels and Local Housing Boards
• work with you on local regeneration projects
• work in partnership with others to make your community safer
• work in partnership with others to keep communal areas clean, well lit and well maintained
• maintain communal grassed areas to an agreed standard
• arrange for abandoned vehicles to be removed from land managed by us within seven days
• remove hate graffiti within 24 hours of notification and all other graffiti within 10 working days – for more information about our work on Anti-Social Behaviour#.

Untidy gardens

If your garden is untidy we will visit you.  We may ask you to:
• cut the hedges
• remove rubbish
• put right whatever is causing the problem.

We will also explain about any help we can give such as the Garden Maintenance Scheme.  This scheme is available to tenants who have reached state retirement age or are disabled, and where there are no other able bodied people over the age of 18 living in the property.
