Mutual Exchanges
If you swap your home with another Derby City Council / Derby Homes tenant, your tenancy will not be affected.
Homeswop
Homeswop is a scheme to let other people know that you would like to exchange your home. The scheme is very simple – all you need to do is
download![#]()
this leaflet, fill in the form and take it along to your
housing office![#]()
.
How it works
When you take your completed form to your housing office we will:
• produce a property sheet including details of your home and a colour photograph
• display the details of your home in the housing office
of the area you want to move to
• put up a Homeswop sign outside your home, if you want one.
You can use Homeswop to exchange homes with:
• Derby City Council/Derby Homes tenants
• Housing Association tenants.
When you have found another tenant to swap with, we will deal with your application as quickly as possible.
If you change your mind we can cancel your application or amend your application.
Your Tenancy and Homeswop
You must have your landlords consent before exchanging.
If you swap with a Housing Association tenant, your tenancy will change.
For example, you may not have the right to buy your home.
We advise you to check your rights under the tenancy agreement with the proposed new landlord, before you agree to swap your home.
