

Who is entitled to join the garden maintenance scheme?
The scheme is for Derby Homes’ tenants. You are entitled to join the scheme if you have:
• reached state retirement age
• or are disabled
• and there is no other able bodied people, over the age of 18, living in the property.
How do I join the scheme?
Simply telephone your housing office or call in and let them know you wish to join.
When will the work begin?
Because of the popularity of the scheme, you may be placed on a waiting list. We will give you official notice to let you know when you have been accepted. You tenancy conditions will be changed to show that:
*Derby Homes accepts the responsibility for garden maintenance, and you will be charged for this service.
How much does it cost?
There is a small additional cost added to your rent. If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit it will be covered by that. For an up to date cost, please call 01332 711000.
What work will be carried out and when?
• Grass cutting – 12 times a year.
• Hedge cutting – 2 times a year
• Weedkilling – as necessary
• Rose pruning – 2 times a year
Grass cutting is done with a strimmer and the cuttings are not collected.
The majority of visits will be in the growing season between 1 April and 31 October
