Who is entitled to join the garden maintenance scheme?

This scheme is for Derby Homes tenants. You are entitled to join the scheme if you have reached state retirement age, or are disabled and there is no other able bodied person over the age of 18 living in the property.

How do I join the scheme?

Simply telephone the Enquiry Centre on 01332 711000 or call in to your nearest Housing Office and let them know you wish to join.

When will the work begin?

Due to the popularity of the Scheme, you may be placed on a waiting list. We will give you an official notice to let you know when you have been accepted. Your tenancy conditions will be changed to show that:

Derby Homes accepts the responsibility for garden maintenance, and you will be charged for the service.

How much does it cost?

There is a small charge for the Garden Maintenance Scheme and this will be added to your rent. For up-to-date costs, call us on 01332 711000.

What work will be carried out and when?

• Grass cutting - 15 times a year
• Border maintenance - 6 times a year
• Hedge cutting - twice a year
• Rose pruning -  twice a year
• Weed killing - as necessary or as instructed by the tenant

The grass is cut using a strimmer. The cuttings are not collected although all debris will be blown from pathways.

Work will be done in the growing season, between March and October.
