Quarterly Prize Draws
This years Best Garden Competition is being sponsored by Planters at Bretby Ltd and is open to all our tenants and leaseholders that are members of Derby Homes Rewards.
The Managing Director, Mr Gerald Ingram has kindly donated over £600 worth of vouchers for the categories in this years competition.
Planters at Bretby is located on Bretby Lane in Burton-on Trent, just outside Repton. Planters at Bretby sell a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants as well as garden furniture, gifts, tools and a fish or two!
We have made some changes to the competition categories for 2007. The new categories are as follows:
1. Best Individual Garden
The will be 4 winners in this category who will receive a £100 Planters at Bretby voucher, 1 in each of the following areas of the city.
• North East
• North West
• South East
• South West
Tenants and leaseholders must nominate their front or back garden to be entered into the competition, unfortunately you cannot enter both. Last years winners are not allowed to enter this category.
2. Best Flat
There will be one winner for this category who will receive a £100 Planters at Bretby voucher. Tenants and leaseholders can enter small patches of garden or a window display, which can include hanging baskets.
3. Best Communal Garden
A tenant or leaseholder can enter a communal garden on behalf of a group of tenants/leaseholders, the garden must be a shared piece of land and cannot be a tenant/leaseholders individual garden. The prize will be issued to the group and not to an individual. Last years winners are not allowed to enter this category.
There will be one overall winning communal garden in this category who will receive a £100 Planters at Bretby voucher.
4. Champion of Champions
This category is for all the winners of the Best Individual Garden category of 2006. Tenants will not automatically be entered, an entry card must be completed and returned, nominating either the front or back garden.
There will be one overall winner in this category who will receive a £125 Planters at Bretby voucher.
5. Best Kitchen Garden
This category is for tenants and leaseholders that grow their own produce or herbs at home. We are looking for the best maintained kitchen garden and not the ‘biggest’ item.
You can enter any vegetables, fruits or herbs into this category.
There will be one winner for this category who will receive a £100 Planters at Bretby voucher.
A panel of tenant representatives and staff from Planters at Bretby will be judging the entries, they will be looking for a variety of plants and use of colour as well as the overall layout and design of the garden.
Judging will take place at the end of June with all entrants being notified of the winning gardens at the beginning of July. A presentation ceremony for the winners will be held in mid July.
Your entry card will be in the April edition of Derby Homes News or you can download one here. Closing date for entries is Friday 8 June 2007.
