Benefits of working for Derby Homes
We offer excellent terms and conditions of employment. Many of our employees transferred to us from Derby City Council and we continue to employ people on Local Government terms and Conditions of Service. You will also be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. If you transfer to us from Local Government or an Organisation covered by the Redundancy Modification Order you will receive protection of your service rights including annual leave, sickness payments and maternity leave.
Employee Consultation
Employee consultation is high on our agenda. We want everyone to feel that their opinion counts and that their views can help us shape our services. There are a number of initiatives that helps us to achieve this. We have an Employee Suggestion Scheme called Bright Ideas. We also have a communication group that meets regularly throughout the year. This is a group led by employees for employees. They discuss anything that might be affecting them within the workplace. The minutes are presented to the senior management team on a quarterly basis. Unison and the Transport and General Workers Union have full trade union recognition rights. This means that we consult with them about any proposed changes to employees' terms and conditions. They also offer support and guidance to individual employees.
Work Life Balance
- We recognise how important it is to have a healthy balance between work and home life. We offer a flexible working scheme to the majority of our employees. We also have a number of family friendly policies that offer support to our employees who are parents and carers.
