DERBY HOMES WEBSITE RE-VAMP A HIT - March 2006

Derby Homes has seen a 10-fold increase in the number of people visiting its website since re-launching it a year ago.

The number of visitors has gone up from 364 in January 2005 when the site was re-launched to 3241 last month.

Phil Davies, chief executive of Derby Homes, said that a number of features have been added to the site -  www.derbyhomes.org#. They include interactive features allowing customers to report non-urgent repairs, pay rent, find a property via Derby Homefinder and download the latest publications. Key documents on the site are also available in Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi as well as English.

The website also allows visitors to find out about the range of services offered by Derby Homes, including new office opening hours.  It achieved ‘Priority 3’ – AAA compliancy in 2005 which is the highest level of accessibility that a website can achieve and means that the site goes beyond the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

Dennis Rees, Chair of Derby Homes said: “I am really pleased that tenants can now report repairs on-line. I think the website will in the future be an increasingly important way of providing tenants with a convenient way of paying the rent and ordering repairs.

“We have worked hard to ensure that the site is as useful as possible to everyone and so we welcome comments and suggestions about it from users.”
