Gone Fishing – Derby Homes News

Are you between 11 and 16 years old, living in Alvaston and interested in fishing?

… you could be missing out on some fun.

The United Alvaston Junior Angling Club has been organised by local resident Jim Dodgson with finance from the Rebecca Trust and Captain Cash from News of the World. Jim got involved when he realised the young people in the area needed something to do.

Jim says; "Setting up the club has been a really positive thing for the kids in the area. At the moment we've got 15 members but there's space for around 25 young people. The kids can learn all about fishing and it doesn't cost them any money."

He went on to say; "We've also been given a free permit from the Pride of Derby Angling Association for the young people to fish in many of the canals and some rivers in the area."

Please contact Jim Dodgson on 01332 607143 or Thom Kellogg from Positive Futures on 07965 417162 for more information or to make a donation to the club.
