New website

Created by Derby Homes for local youngsters, ‘Derby Kidz Talk’ is a new website aimed at 9 to16 year olds, giving you the chance to have your say about Derby and get involved.

A VOICE FOR KIDZ LIVING IN DERBY

Local youngsters now have access to a new interactive website developed by Derby Homes, the organisation that manages and maintains council properties in Derby.

www.derbykidztalk.org.uk# is aimed at young people living in Derby aged between 9 and 16 years.  It will give them the chance to talk about local issues affecting them, enter competitions, find out about events and take part in surveys.  Derby KidzTalk relies on the input given by youngsters and is looking for volunteers to become editors of the site to really shape its future.

Maria Murphy, Director of Housing and Customer Services said: “We developed this site for all young people living in Derby because we felt it was important for everyone to have their say about issues that are important to them – we really want them to get involved and make the site their own so that it includes exactly what they want.  We have visited local schools to find out what pupils think and what they would like to be included and so far feedback has been very positive.”

Dennis Rees, Chair of Derby Homes said: “We are constantly looking to increase our communication to find out what is important to young people.  Although the site has primarily been developed to offer them the chance to air their views, it will also provide us with valuable information about what matters to them through KidzTalk surveys – the results of which we will use to inform future plans.”
