Two houses before and after at Poets Corner

Poets Corner

On 7 July 2003 Derby Homes came to an agreement with Walbrook Housing Association and took over the management of the 66 properties - known as Poets Corner - in the centre of the Old Sinfin Estate.

These properties are a combination of one, two and three bedroom houses, including six adapted homes for disabled people. In July 2003, 43 of the 66 homes were empty.

Our aim was to achieve long-term sustainability for Poets Corner and make it a place where people want to live. We advertised the homes through Derby Homefinder and, after lots of hard work, all the homes are now occupied. Poets Corner has become in great demand and has developed into a vibrant area.

Old Sinfin Local Housing Office on Shakespeare Street manages these properties. This is conveniently located for tenants wishing to call in for help and advice, benefit queries or to report repairs or anti-social behaviour.

Office Manager Wendy Jessop and Housing Officer Jenny Veater-Smith are managing the Poets Corner properties for Derby Homes.
