Here are just a few examples of the consultancy support we have already offered…

• Our staff, tenants and Board Members have provided the benefit of their experience of running the first housing organisation to achieve 3 stars by the Audit Commission and one of the first Arms Length Management Organisations in the country. Senior managers have carried out peer reviews with other housing organisations. Several councils have sent staff, councillors and tenants to visit us to learn how we have achieved this, and how an ALMO works. Finance staff have worked with other ALMOs on setting up new financial systems.

• We are on track to bring Derby City Council’s housing stock up to the Government’s decent homes standard by April 2006. We have a successful partnering agreement with Bramall Construction, Lovell Partnerships, Derby City Council Commercial Services and Vinshires Plumbing and Heating which has delivered savings in the first audited accounts of £600,000. Staff at Derby Homes are working with other ALMOs to help them achieve decent homes.

• Derby Homes has also taken on the management of 300 housing association properties in Derby. We have been very pleased to work with Walbrook Housing Association and Northern Counties Housing Association and have provided some of their tenants with our efficient, friendly and local service.

• Derby Homes wishes to provide new homes to meet the needs of the people of Derby. We are working closely with the City Council on this initiative. We are keen to work with building contractors who are providing homes to rent in the city, and would like to see how we can help them.
